Sie hat diesen Kommentar f\u00fcr die Zeitschrift Chrismon geschrieben.<a href=\"https:\/\/chrismon.de\/personen\/57781\/reem-farag\"> Dort ist er am 12.Januar erschienen.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Mit dem Sturz des Regimes von Bashar al-Assad wurden die Statuen von ihm und seinem Vater Hafiz al-Assad vom Sockel gesto\u00dfen und ihre Bilder verbrannt. Nun endlich werden sie auch aus unseren Portemonnaies und Hosentaschen verschwinden: Bislang war n\u00e4mlich das Gesicht von Hafiz al-Assad auf den 1000-Pfund-Scheinen und das von Baschar al-Assad auf den 2000-Pfund-Scheinen zu sehen. Nun haben wir neues Geld. Es zeigt sch\u00f6ne bunte Bilder, au\u00dferdem wurden zwei Nullen gestrichen.<\/p>\n<p>Die neuen Geldscheine zeigen nicht nur ein modernisiertes Finanzwesen; sie sind \u00a0eine symbolische R\u00fcckeroberung des wohl intimsten Aspekts im \u00f6ffentlichen Leben.<\/p>\n<p>Die Diktatorenbilder auf dem Geld waren eine psychologische Last, die wir Syrerinnen und Syrer mit uns herumtrugen. Erinnerten sie uns doch st\u00e4ndig daran, wie umfassend und tief verwurzelt die Macht der al-Assads war.<\/p>\n<p>Das neue Geld zeigt landwirtschaftliche Erzeugnisse: Weizen\u00e4hren stehen f\u00fcr W\u00fcrde und Produktivit\u00e4t. Oliven sind Symbole f\u00fcr Frieden, ihre tiefen Wurzeln bedeuten Stabilit\u00e4t. Orangen kann man als Hinweis auf die Vielfalt der syrischen Landwirtschaft lesen. Und sie stammen aus der K\u00fcstenregion &#8211; ein Bekenntnis zum Zusammenhalt der Regionen. Schlie\u00dflich sind auch noch Damaszenerrosen auf die Scheine gedruckt. Sie stehen f\u00fcr Authentizit\u00e4t und syrische Geschichte. Kurz: Die Symbolik unserer W\u00e4hrung hat sich grundlegend gewandelt. Statt Personenkult geht es jetzt darum, die Lebensgrundlagen wertzusch\u00e4tzen.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Wir feiern das neue Geld<\/h2>\n<p>Deswegen feiern viele von uns das Geld. Endlich wurden auch unsere Portemonnaies vom Albtraum der Diktatur befreit.<\/p>\n<p>Zumindest fast. Denn noch gelten auch die alten Scheine, was zu Chaos f\u00fchrt. Noch komplizierter wird die Angelegenheit, weil mit der Einf\u00fchrung des neuen Geldes auch zwei Nullen gestrichen wurden: Produkte k\u00f6nnen also entweder 2.000 Pfund kosten, wenn sie mit einem Assad-Schein bezahlt werden, oder 20 Pfund, wenn sie mit einem der neuen Scheine bezahlt werden.<\/p>\n<p>Die Syrerinnen und Syrer nehmen es mit Humor und haben die Scheine umbenannt. Sie zahlen jetzt mit \u201eOliven\u201c, \u201eOrangen\u201c oder \u201eBeeren\u201c. Es ist der Versuch der Bev\u00f6lkerung, mit der \u201eNullenverwirrung\u201c umzugehen.<\/p>\n<p>Zugleich ist klar: Zwei Nullen zu streichen ist nur ein erster Schritt. Jetzt geht es darum, die strukturellen Ursachen anzugehen, die das syrische Pfund in seinen heutigen desolaten Zustand gebracht haben \u2013 es hat seit 2011 \u00fcber 99 % seines Wertes verloren: durch Korruption, Instabilit\u00e4t und Ressourcenverschwendung.<\/p>\n<p>Vor allem geht es darum, das Vertrauen der Syrerinnen und Syrer in den Neuanfang zu st\u00e4rken. Da reichen keine druckfrischen bunten Geldscheine. Wir brauchen eine sp\u00fcrbare und nachhaltige Verbesserung der Kaufkraft, Preisstabilit\u00e4t und echte Transparenz. Dazu geh\u00f6rt auch, dass die Zentralbank so neu aufgestellt, wird, dass die Menschen ihr vertrauen k\u00f6nnen. Geld und das, was wir f\u00fcr das Geld bekommen, davon machen vielen Menschen abh\u00e4ngig., ob sie der Regierung vertrauen k\u00f6nnen.
